Economic Impacts of Heatwave in India

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) declared a heatwave earlier this year. Even though it was meant to be spring, the heatwaves continued becoming longer. According to one study, heat waves are lasting longer than ever before. For example, between 1981 and 1990, we went from 413 days to 575 days between 2001 and 2010, and 600 days between 2011 and 2020. Let’s know more about heatwaves and what are its consequences in India.
